I was born and raised in the Philippines and grew up in
a family where faith in Christ is divided. God made my mother a Christian early
on in her marriage while my father remained an unbeliever. Even though I was
brought to church as a little girl, I did not learn much about Jesus nor was I
really interested in Him. Growing up, I placed my security and identity in my
friends. Being separated from them when my family and I moved to Canada in 1996
devastated me. Little did I know that the big move, which I hated much at the
time, was all part of God’s glorious plan for me and my family.
It is here in Canada that Jesus opened my eyes to who He
really is. I was fourteen years old when God made me a Christian. At the age of
sixteen, God led me to be involved in church ministry and ignited compassion in
my heart to serve the poor, both physically and spiritually. What’s more, God
opened my father’s eyes to His sovereignty and he surrendered his life to the
Lord a year after we came to Canada.
Everyday, I am thankful to God for His gift of Salvation.
Because of it, I have a clear sense of purpose in my life and that is to
worship, enjoy and glorify Him. Having given the calling to establish a
Residential Care Facility in the Philippines for orphaned, abandoned and
neglected children – with my best friends, I have dedicated my life to serving
children in poverty. I am grateful for all that He has allowed me to experience,
both good and bad in the short time I have spent here on earth. I cling to His
Spirit to empower me to become more and more like my Saviour each day.
Psalm 37:4: “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give
you the desires of your heart.”
